as a museum man i have tried to show what happened in cities and villages
in art with a series of exhibitions . among others :
`abstract art' amsterdam 1938, 'cobra' amsterdam 1949, let us look closer
`vitalita nel arte' venice 1959 and 'international art' into what happened :
at the seattle worlds fair 1962. in the present text i
am largely citing from the introductions to these what a difference
exhibitions and as illustrations i have chosen works between europe around world war I
from artists i exhibited after world war II. and europe after world war II
