From one space to another
Description of the work within the given architecture. Inscribing of the
arc of the circle of the ceiling, within the circle which contains it.
The architecture of the gallery ceiling defining the work shown, its
position, height and form. The colour of the work (purple) being that of
the paper available at that time.
1. General view of the gallery and the installation: (A) the left-hand 4. Same view as No. 3, but by night. Note that the transparency of the
wall and (B) the right-hand one (door and windows). On (A) the wall fragments on the window-panes disappears.
is completely covered, with (A') extending from the ceiling module, as
indicated in the above description. On (B) a collage following the same 5. External view of the gallery with fragments of (B') stuck on the
principle as on (A) but with the paper (B') stuck front/recto against the window-panes. The stripes appear from their recto/front. In the
wall. background, (A') as a projection of (B1) can be seen.
2. View of wall (A) and of the fragment (A'). Normal collage, with the 6. Same view as No. 5, but by night.
verso against the wall and recto (coloured stripes) visible.
3. View of the wall (B) and of the fragment (B'). (B') is stuck back to
front and fragmented by the architecture of the wall (B). The colour
of the stripes is visible because of the paper's transparency.
Comments: From outside the gallery, the spectator is faced by two works, (B1) and (A1) which project one
from the other in accordance with the characteristics of the architecture of the place, that is the ceiling module.
The two works/paintings appear at this time from the front/recto.
Inside the gallery, the spectator finds himself 'between' the work/painting, the latter successively showing its
recto and verso.
