fountains and "sources" near our house in France, and on my
walks they seemed to hold, perhaps, more than their natural
significance. Some were man-made, some natural, and some
natural but aided by man. I made some notes and the forms
began to take on a shape quite unlike the original subject. At
this time I found a small and most curious organic object, and
the impression of this joined with my other thoughts on the idea.
