'I don't think that I am expressionist, if this means being a
painter who attempts to find conformations, sometimes in cold
blood, which will give an effect of passion; it seems to me that
I am attempting by feeling, to find living conformations which
will surprise me by their independence and will for me define
sensations of reality.

their directness, complexity and unpredictability goes without
