      Bryan Pearce at the New Art Centre, 41 Sloane
      Street, S.W.1 to the beginning of February. Also
      showing is David Blackburn, whose work was
      illustrated in the December 'On exhibition'.

      Henry Irving as Dubosc in 'The Lyons Mail' 1898,
      woodcut (edition of 150), by Edward Gordon Craig
      from an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert
      Museum. 'The Lyons Mail', by Charles Reade,
      appeared at the Lyceum Theatre in 1898. Edward
      Gordon Craig was born in 1872 at Stevenage; his
      mother was Henry Irving's leading lady, Dame
      Ellen Terry, and Edward himself was an actor before
      he became interested in and increasingly dedicated
      to graphics and especially to the woodcut. He was
      an extremely influential designer of stage settings
      and costumes. He died in 1966.

      Parameter IV  1967, painted wood, 4 x 10 ft, by Roy
      Ascott at Ikon, St Martin's House, Birmingham until
      February 10. Roy Ascott was born in Bath in 1934
      and studied at the Department of Fine Art, King's
      College, Newcastle before teaching at the
      University for a year. He is at present teaching at
      Wolverhampton School of Art. (See article on p. 60.)

      Study for Interior 1967, oil and charcoal on paper,
      18 in. diameter, by Richard Turner at Reid, Milk
      House Gate, High Street, Guildford, Surrey from
      February 11 to March 2. The exhibition contains
      paintings by the staff of the Department of Fine
      Art at Guildford School of Art, including Jack
      Ellison, Peter Gooding, Roy Holt, Tony Underhill
      and James Winterbottom. (Price range: 25 gns-
      200 gns.)

      Chronos 7, 68 x 64 x 24 in., by Nicholas Schöffer
      at Arnolfini, 42 Triangle West, Bristol until the end
      of February. The show, 'Light in Movement', being
      held in conjunction with the University of Bristol
      Union and coinciding with their Arts Festival, was
      at Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry, in December, and
      Trinity College Dublin in January. Some of the
      artists included are Martha Boto, Hugh Demarco,
      Francois Morellet, Peter Sedgley, Victor Vasarely,
      Billy Apple and Anna Maria Gatti. (Price range:
      £1 25-£2,625.)

      Diane from 'Le réveil de Flore'  by Albert Rutherston
      (1881-1953) at Reading Museum and Art Gallery
      until February 17. The work is from the Arts Council
      exhibition of ballet designs, 'Diaghilev', which is
      touring England and will next be shown in Keighley
      Art Gallery. Albert Rutherston, brother of Sir William
      Rothenstein, changed his name in 1914. He was
      one of the first English designers to work for a
      Russian ballet company.

      Escalating 1967, pen and crayon, 22 x 30 in., by
      Martin Fuller at Queen's Hall, Barnstaple, Devon
      from February 12 to 24. The show, 'Drawings by
      Eleven British Artists', is touring the South West of
      England and has been organized by the Arnolfini
      Gallery, Bristol. Also included are Bryan Wynter,
      Patrick Heron, Elizabeth Frink and Gillian Ayres.
