Lumia 1967, 24 x 32 x 12 in., by Earl Reiback at
Howard Wise, 50 West 57th Street, from February
10 to March 2. Earl Reiback was born in Brooklyn,
New York in 1936 and studied at Lehigh University
and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where
he gained a masters degree in nuclear engineering.
In the last two years, he has taken part in many
group shows connected with light in art. He had a
one-man show at Howard Wise in 1966.

B 5 1967, painted metal, 14 x 14 x 5 in., by Sol
Lewitt at Dwan, 29 West 57th Street, from February
3-28. Born in 1928, Sol Lewitt was educated at
Syracuse University. Having taken part in four
group shows in 1964, he had his first one-man show
at Daniels in 1965 and many more group shows in
New York including the Jewish Museum, Sachs,
Riverside Museum and the Whitney Museum. He
is one of the best known American sculptors
working with minimal and serial themes.

Beach girl 1937, oil on canvas, 36 x 22 in., by the
American naïve painter Morris Hirschfield at the
Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53rd Street, until
March 10. The works exhibited are from the Sidney
and Harriet Janis collection, which consists of one
hundred paintings and sculptures by three genera-
tions of twentieth-century artists, and is being given
to the Museum by Mr and Mrs Janis in instalments.
This exhibition will travel to other museums
throughout the next two years.

Chalkfield 1965, acrylic on wood panel by Toni
Onley at Albert White, 379 Adelaide St. West until
February 21. Toni Onley was born in the Isle of
Man and went to Canada in 1948. He studied at the
Douglas School of Fine Art in the Isle of Man and
the Doon School of Art with Carl Schaefer and (on
scholarship) at the Instituto Allende, Mexico. He won
Canada Council Awards in 1961 and '63 and then
worked in 1964 at the Royal College of Art. He now
lives in Vancouver. (Price range: $250—$3,000.)
