Lady going to meet her lover 1760, Guler school, from
the exhibition 'The art of the Panjab Hills' at the
British Museum from March 22 to September 2.
This exhibition is planned to show the museum's
collection of three principal schools of miniature
painting, Basohli, Guler and Kangra. These schools
flourished from the late 17th to the early 19th
centuries in the remote courts of the Panjab Hills.
Also being shown are bronze and stone sculptures
of the 6th to 11th century.

through March. This show of oil paintings by the
gallery owner's wife includes landscapes painted in
England and in many countries in Europe, where
she has been travelling for the last twelve years.
Born in Paris in 1925, Berthe Hess was trained at the
Ecole des Beaux-Arts. She has exhibited in
thirteen countries.

Night in Tunisia 1962, oil, 24 x 18 in., from an
exhibition of oils and collages by John
Christopherson at Greenwich Theatre Gallery,
Crooms Hill, S.E.10 until March 30. John
Christopherson was born in Blackheath in 1921
and now lives in Greenwich. He has exhibited at
Leicester Galleries since 1959 and also at Redfern,
Roland, Browse & Delbanco, Hanover, Brook Street
and Mayor. This is his seventh one-man show.

Blue vase-still life, oil on canvas, 21 x 29 in., by
Craigie Aitchison at Marlborough Fine Art, 39 Old
Bond Street, W.1 from March 8 to April 3. Born in
Scotland in 1926, Craigie Aitchison studied at the
Slade. He won an Italian Government scholarship in
1954, and held a one-man show at Beaux-Arts and
has shown in many countries. Also showing at
Marlborough is Isabel Lambert who studied in Paris
before the war and is chiefly known for her
ballet stage sets.

Lady in a muslin dress 1913, oil on canvas, 30 x 25 in.,
by Philip Wilson Steer O.M. at the Fine Art Society,
148 New Bond Street, W.1 until March 29. This is a
selection of oils and watercolours by Steer ranging
in date from the mid 1890s to the early 1930s: the
first commercial show of the artist's work for many
years. The show includes paintings by his New
English Art Club contemporaries-Clausen,
Fisher, Arnesby Brown and Henry Tonks. Steer was
born in 1860 and died in 1942. (Price range: £150-
£3,000.)

Rhythmic shapes 1966, etching in two colours (edition
of 50) by Dolf Rieser from an exhibition of graphic
work at Lumley Cazalet, 24 Davies Street, W.1 until
March 15. Dolf Rieser was born in South Africa.
He went to Paris where he worked with S. W. Hayter
from 1930-39 and engraved with Joseph Hecht.
He has lived in England since the war, and teaches
art and biology. (Price range: £6-£20.)
