Oiseau Lunaire 1966, bronze, 93⅛ x 83¾ in. by Miro at
Maeght, 13 rue de Teheran, during May. The
exhibition includes Mirò's new large bronze
sculptures, three vases made in collaboration with
Artigas, and a series of oils, watercolours, gouaches
and drawings done in 1960-6. Patrick Waldberg
has written the preface to the catalogue, which
contains two original lithographs and two poems by
André Frémaud and Shuzo Takiguchi.

Brou de Noix sur papier 1947, painting on paper,
25½ x 19⅝ in. by Soulages at Musee National d'Art
Moderne until May 21. His exhibitions since 1964
include the Tate, London; Documenta III, Kassel;
Kootz, New York; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes,
Montevideo; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and this
year at Gimpel Fils, London, and Gimpel Zurich.

Oeuvre Sérielle 1953 by J.-R. Soto, in an exhibition
during May entitled De l'Art Optique à L'Art
Cinétique at Denise Rene, 196 Boulevard St Germain.
The exhibition shows the evolution of Soto's work
over the last fifteen years. A central figure in both
optical and kinetic art, Soto has exhibited at Signals,
London. In 1964, he was awarded a prize at the
Venice Biennale.

Untilted 1965, oil on paper, 9⅜ x 12½ in. by Francisco
Toledo at Karl Flinker, 34 rue du Bac, May 9-31. The
fifty works exhibited include self-portraits entitled
Toledo by Toledo, oils on canvas, watercolours,
drawings in Chinese ink and coloured crayon.

Monkey Looking in a Mirror 1929, 39⅜ x 28¾ in., by
Henri Pfeiffer exhibiting during May at Marbach,
33 Boulevard de Courcelles. Born in Kassel in 1907,
Pfeiffer became a French citizen in 1952. His book
Harmonie et Couleurs was published in 1956, and in
1959 and 1961 he exhibited watercolours in Paris.

Homme A la Barbe 1966, oil, 23¼ x 29⅛ in. by Paolo
Vallorz, in an exhibition in May at Claude Bernard,
5-7 rue des Beaux-Arts. In 1953 Vallorz had his first
one-man show in Paris, exhibiting sculpture in
welded metal and abstract painting. He has
numbered among his acquaintances Robert Muller,
Giacometti, Riopelle, and Germaine Richier. He
exhibited at Albert Loeb, New York, in 1963-4-5.
