Sende 1967, tempera on board, 20 x 20 in., by
Victor Vasarely at Sidney Janis, 15 East 57th
Street, from January 3 to February 3. Paintings,
sculpture and plexi-3-dimensional paintings are
being shown. Born in 1908 in Hungary, Vasarely
studied medicine at the University of Budapest. In
1927 he changed to artistic studies at the Poldini-
Volkman Academy in Budapest and then at the
Budapest Bauhaus. He was co-founder of the
Galerie Denise René, where he still exhibits, and
won the 1964 International Guggenheim Prize.
There was a survey of his work by Jean Clay in the
May 1967 issue of Studio International.

Image with four sides 1962, iron, copper and wood,
27¾ in., high by Zoltan Kemeny at the
Guggenheim Museum, 1071 Fifth Avenue, until
February 4, in 'Sculpture from twenty nations'
exhibition. Zoltan Kemeny was born in 1907 in
Rumania, trained as a cabinet-maker, studied
architecture and fashion design before taking up
painting and sculpture. He builds his reliefs from
ready-made materials such as scrap metal, wire,
nails and springs. He now lives and works in
Switzerland.

Three standing forms 1965, stone, 69 in. high by
Barbara Hepworth at the Guggenheim Museum.
Barbara Hepworth was born in Wakefield in 1903
and studied in Leeds, the Royal College, Florence
and Rome. She lived and worked in London until
1939; since then she has lived in St. Ives, Cornwall.
She won the Grand Prix at the 5th Biennale, Sao
Paulo in 1959, and the Foreign Minister's Award at
the 7th Biennale, Tokyo. She first exhibited in
London in 1928 and is having a major retrospective
at the Tate in April. Gene Baro wrote an article on
her work in Studio International, June 1966.

16 x 2 x 1 ft. by John Stephenson at Royal Marks,
19 East 71st Street through January. Born in
Indianapolis in 1933, Stephenson has exhibited
many times during the last two years in the United
States. (Price range: $1,000-$2,500.)

86 x 47 in. by Michelangelo Pistoletto in an
exhibition of Contemporary Masters at Dunkelman
Gallery, 15 Bedford Road, until February 24. The
exhibition includes the work of Albers, Chryssa,
Dalwood, Dubuffet, Gladstone, Marisol, Nevelson,
Paolozzi, Seley, Trova and Vasarely.
