`It is our philosophy that the process of creation
in whatever field of art is based on a dialogue
between the artist and the public and that any-
thing that can promote this conversation is likely
to be beneficial.'—From statement by Michael
Kaye, Director, Peter Stuyvesant Foundation.
Look at that ! What is it here for ? I think your
bush needs a flower- what's it for- doesn't it do
anything-oh it's only decoration-my dog will
have a good piss on it, come along Sam-is this
supposed to be art- Saturday night I'll have a
good screw in there-why do you want to put
that ugly thing in our nice park where we had
our lovely flower bed-it looks very good from a
distance-I pass through this park every morning
and it gave me a start. I thought I was seeing
things-is it wire ? Its only wire, hey Fred, its
only wire-there ought to be two dead people
lying in that thing, you and you-what's this all
about then-I saw it from a distance and
couldn't figure it out, so I came for a look-
vandals will have a good time with that. The
city just planted four trees over there, vandals
came along and broke off the tops, it made me
cry to see those lovely things all torn up-they'll
do the same to this -I think I could get to like
it-what's this shit, give us a quid mate on
Saturday night I'll tear it apart-when do we get
our flower bed back.
