Deep Thought (1) 1966, oil on canvas, 54x 43 in.,
by Violet Tengberg in an exhibition of paintings at
Drian Gallery until March 25. In 1966 Mrs Tengberg
received The City of Gothenburg award for cultural
achievement. She studied at, and now lives in,
Gothenburg, and has held one-man exhibitions in
Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsinki and London.
She is represented in the National Museum of
Fine Arts, Stockholm and in private collections in
Europe and the U.S. (Price range: £60—£400.)

Our Bedroom 11966, oil on hardboard, 48x 48 in.,
by Anthony Green at his fourth one-man exhibition
at Rowan Gallery—until March 30. Green, who has
been awarded a Calouste Gulbenkian Purchase
Award, was resident in Paris for several years and
showed at the 'Cafe Royal Centenary Exhibition' at
Galerie Creuze, Paris. Other group shows include
City Art Galleries, Sheffield, Bradford City Art
Gallery Spring Exhibition and 1958-62 Arts Council
travelling exhibition. Living and working in London,
he teaches at the Slade School.

one of a suite of six prints by Bruce McLean,
Francis Myers, Tom Phillips, Richard Pinkney,
Birgit Skiold and Ian Tyson, published by A.I.A.

unlimited editions, printed on offset cartridge by
David Pyke, and included at A.I.A. in an open
exhibition 'Prints '67' for members and non-members

Eternal Child 1916, oil on canvas, 28 7/8 x 17 7/8 in., by
Irma Stern (Peter Stuyvesant Coll., Amsterdam)
at a memorial exhibition, March 14 to April 15, at
Grosvenor Gallery. Born of German/Jewish
parents in 1894, Irma Stern entered the Weimar
Academy in 1913 and later had tuition under Martin
Brandenburg at Levin-Funke School. She was
strongly influenced by Pechstein. She made painting
trips to Africa, and the influence of her first trip to
Zanzibar in 1939 began an important decade in her
career. Irma Stern has had exhibitions in Berlin
and other major German cities. (Price range: oils

Nude 1967, collage, oil and gouache on paper,
14 x 18 in. by Anthony Fry at the New Art Centre
in an exhibition of recent collages of nudes and
landscapes—March 8—April 8. Fry, who teaches at
Chelsea School of Art, has had six one-man shows in
London, and has taken part in exhibitions in New
York and Rome. (Price range: 50 gns-300 gns.)

Girl in Bed 1965, oil on canvas, 28 x 36 in., by Howard
Hodgkin, in his third one-man show at Arthur Tooth
& Sons—until March 25. Hodgkin was included in
'British Painting in the Sixties' at the Whitechapel
Art Gallery, and in 'London ; the New Scene',
which toured the U.S. and Canada. Collections
which have his work include the Arts Council of
Great Britain, Ind Coope Ltd, and Walker Art
Center, Minneapolis. (Price range: £95—£300.)
