Mela Muter at the Galerie Gmurzynska, 74-76

Working in the tradition of Morisot, Laurencin and
Valadon, Mme Muter died in May 1967 at the age
of ninety-one. She has exhibited in many major
galleries in Europe since her first exhibition in
1902 in Paris. In recent years she has shown at
several private galleries including the Maxwell
Galleries in San Francisco and the Hammer
Galleries in New York.
Madrid

Bedegon de Triana oil on canvas from The magic
work of Carmen Laffon at Galeria Juana Mordo,
Villanueva 7 from October 4 to 28. Born in 1934,
Laffon studied at the Fine Art Schools of Seville
and of Madrid. He has had seven one-man shows
in Spain between 1958 and 1967 and won second
prize in the Turner Spring Competition in Madrid
1954.

Le modèle rouge 1935 by René Magritte in an
exhibition of his work at the Moderna Museet,
Statens Konstamlingar, until November 12. This
is a retrospective exhibition of work by the Belgian
surrealist who died in August of this year. He was
born in 1898 in Lessines and was represented in
all important international exhibitions of
surrealist art.
Zurich

Etching (V. 23) 1965 from an exhibition of paintings
and sculpture by Angel Duarte at Galerie Suzanne
Bollag, Limmatquai 116, until October 10. Duarte,
born in Spain was a member of Equipo 57 from
1957-66 and now lives in Switzerland. He has
exhibited in England, America, Italy, Denmark and
France (at the Musée d'Art Moderne and at
Galerie Denise René).

Soni 1967 by Miklós Borsós in a one-man show at
Galerie Semita Huber, Talstrasse 18, through
October. The sculptures being shown are those
exhibited at the 1966 Venice Biennale, where
Borsós represented Hungary.
